The villas include a master bedroom with king size bed and a second bedroom with twin beds (which can be converted to a double bed) both with en suite marble bathrooms with bath tubs and rain showers. There is an open-plan kitchen and dining area and a separate living room. Outside the large veranda boasts a eco-heated pool with whirlpool and waterfall and a spacious seating areas.       Two Bedroom Ultraluxe Villa: These unique villas will satisfy the needs of the most demanding traveller. In a prime location, the villas offer breathtaking views of the entire bay of Elounda and the Venetian castle on the islands of Spinalonga. The interiors include an expansive living area split over two floors with glamorous and extravagant furnishings whilst outside is a spacious veranda with wooden deck and a private pool.     • Domes of Elounda is a fantastic resort for families catering for the needs of babies through to teenagers. Children will love the sandy beach as well as the Domes Plaza which includes the creche and children’s club, teen’s games room, playground, family pools, shaded freshwater plunge pool for children and an open-air theatre for summer entertainment.

      Domes Creche 4 months to 4 years

      Managed by qualified professionally trained staff via childcare specialists Worldwide Kids Company, the creche is held in a bright and spacious room equipped with toys, books and games, mats for indoor soft play and a supervised, shaded and fenced-off playground. The creche is open daily from 10:00 to 13:00 (a light fruit and snack lunch is included) and from 15:00 to 18:00.The cost for under-2s is €45 a day for both sessions or €30 for one session or €35 and €22 respectively for children aged 2 to 4 years (prices as of 2016). Childcare is extremely popular so pre-booking is strongly recommended.

      Domes Kids Club 4 to 12 years

      The Domes Kids Club features a varied and age appropriate complimentary activity programme for children which includes puppet shows, team games, drawling lessons, watersports , tennis lessons and mini discos. Sessions run daily 10:00 to 13:00 (a light fruit and snack is included) and from 15:00 to 18:00.

      Playground: There is a large outdoor playground equipped with a huge sandbox with buckets and spades, slides, sea saws, swings, springers, climbing net and baby cars.

      Teenage Arcade Room: This is a great space for teens equipped with electronic gaming (Xbox, PlayStation 4, PSP, Wii, Guitar Hero),table tennis, table football), electric tricycle biking and a graffiti wall. Weekly tournaments with surprise awards are also organised with an aim to motivate teens to develop a team spirit and work creatively in groups! Babysitting and Nannies: Qualified, english-speaking babysitters are available on request for approximately €15 an hour (the price varies depending on the number of children, price as of 2016). A Nanny service is also available on request at extra charge.

      Baby and Toddler Equipment: Upon request, prior to arrival the Domes of Elounda can provide the following (subject to availability): cots, monitors, highchairs, sterilisers, kettles, baby baths, changing mats, baby bouncers, bed guards, blenders, baby cutlery, baby steps, toilet seats, night lights, non-slip mats, pool fences and stair gates.

      Family Facilities: Bath robes and slippers, welcome gifts and kids snacks in the mini bar are included for children Video games and Xbox can also be provided on request.

      Minimarket: The minimarket stocks a range of nappies, toiletries, baby soap and shampoo, lotion and wet wipes and baby food.

      Children’s meals: A children’s buffet is available in Tholos restaurant. All restaurants are equipped with highchairs, drawing pads and crayons.

    • Restaurants: Domes of Elounda offers guests a choice of four restaurants each with a different style that includes the best of Greek and international cuisine. Breakfast and half board evening meals are served in Tholos, the resort’s main buffet restaurant which has stunning views of Spinalonga. Blend Italian Fusion offers the finest cuts of beef with locally caught lobster. The award-wining Topos 1910 is an authentic Greek seafood tavern situated right on the seafront under a lush olive grove with stunning Spinalonga views. Yaosai meaning fortress in Chinese, is a vibrant yet intimate asian restaurant offering unobstructed views to Spinalonga. There are also four bars: Yaosai Pool Bar by the main pool, Domes Plaza Pool Bar, Breeze All Day Beach Lounge and the Grand Domes Bar which has huge picture windows with views to Spinalonga and a relaxed yet glamorous ambience with its low white sofas, chandeliers, gleaming marble and neutral tones. At sunset the bar comes alive with cocktails on the terrace and live music.

      Beach: The resort has a private sandy beach which offers a range of watersports and Breeze All Day Beach Club for Haute Living guests.

      Swimming Pools: The resort features five swimming pools including an adult only pool, family pools and a shaded plunge pool for children at Domes Plaza. Domes Luxury Residences have their own private eco-heated pool with whirlpool and waterfall.

      Spa: The stunning Soma spa evokes the bygone era of ancient Greece with glittering gold and black mosaics and a black mosaic seawater pool. The spa includes a sauna, steam room, hammam and relaxation areas complimented by a wide range of beauty treatments. Original treatments and methods of the ancient Greeks are combined with new healing techniques try a caviar and pearls facial, an aromatherapy salt glow or an aromatic moor mud full body wrap. The Soma Spa also has an indoor pool for your enjoyment.

    • Spinalonga Island: Uninhabited since 1957, this enchanting island has a rich history that includes being controlled by Venetians, the Ottomans and being home to one of the last leper colonies in Europe.

      Knossos Palace: One of the most important sights of Minoan civilization, Knossos Palace is said to be the seat of the legendary King Minos and is also connected with legends such as the myth of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur and the story of Daidalos and Icaros.

      Venetian Walls: Explore the Venetian Walls at Heraklion which represent the most formidable project of the Venetian rule and date from the 15th Century. The walls are free to explore and are also home to the Tomb of Nikos Kazantzakis from where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the old town of Heraklion.

      Visit the Cretan Aquarium: Explore the undersea world of the Mediterranean including coral reefs, sea anemones, clown fish, jelly fish, turtles and large sharks.

    • When to travel

      With its Mediterranean climate, there isn’t really a bad time to visit Crete. The year round climate is generally warm and sunny with the risk of an odd shower over winter. July and August can be very hot and are naturally the busiest months to coincide with school summer holidays. May and October are good months to visit. The Gulf of Mirabello has a microclimate between November and March particularly, with average temperatures never below 14C.

      Heraklion with its rich cultural heritage, offers many cultural events to visitors throughout the year. The annual Heraklion Summer Arts Festival is the most popular event on the island’s cultural calendar. Plays, concerts, traditional events (many with free entrance) and open-air cinema shows, take place from July to late September.

      Location and Directions

      Domes of Elounda s located on the coast near the picturesque town of Elounda. The resort overlooks the Mirabello Gulf with spectacular views of Spinalonga Island and is approx. 75km from from Heraklion International Airport.

      How to get there:

      From London Gatwick Easyjet currently offers a direct service to Heraklion with a flight duration of 4 1/2 hours.  Alternatively, Heraklion International Airport is served by scheduled airlines several times a day via Athens. British Airways or Olympic Airways have flight durations of 6 1/2 hours.  It is then approximately a 75 minute private transfer from Heraklion International Airport to Elounda. Please note that Greece is 2 hours ahead of GMT.
