Verbier goes for the world speed skiing record

This week (April 13-20) Verbier is living to the beat of speed skiing.

A ramp has been installed at the top of the Mont-Fort to allow the best and bravest speed skiers to test its 60° slope.   The challenge is to set a world record for speed skiing on April 20, 2013

The XSpeedSki is three competitions in one:

1)      The Pop KL open to all on April 13-14

2)       The 2013 FIS World Cup Final from April 15-17

3)       The Speed Master Pro on April 18-20

The Pop KL is an opportunity for everyone to test their limits!

The final of the 2013 FIS World Cup will see the best speed skiers in the world take part. Simone Origone from Austria currently leads ahead of his brother, Ivan. Fellow Austrian, Klaus Schrottshammer, is expected to give it his all to win back the title.

The big event is the Speed Masters. “This will be the year!” says Eric Balet, managing director of Téléverbier.

The ramp set up on the summit of the Mont Fort two seasons ago couldn’t be used due to insufficient snow, but with this year’s great snow, it’s highly likely that this year will give local, Philippe May, a great opportunity to set a new World Record.
