Description

Benefiting from years of long summers and mild winters, the south coast of Sicily is home to spectacular landscapes, green rolling hills and stunning beachfront resorts that back onto the Mediterranean Sea. So it makes perfect sense that the owners of the Verdura Golf and Spa Resort decided to make their home here, just outside the southern seaside town of Sciacca, with a complex that stretches across 1.8km of private coastline.

Despite its enormity, the Verdura hotel has a comparatively low number of rooms and suites, giving the resort a private and secluded ambience, and ensuring easy access to all on-site facilities. Each of the hotel’s suites has a soft and natural décor, purposely styled by interior designer Olga Pollizi to emulate traditional Sicilian architecture. Polished concrete floors, four-poster beds and signature Italian lighting add an elegant finesse to the interiors, while each room being equipped with a large private terrace allows guests to enjoy the resort’s exterior beauty.

Boasting some of the finest hotel facilities in the world, the jewel in Verdura’s crown is its stunning golf course. Designed by leading architect Kyle Phillips, the resort features two 18-hole championship links-style golf course, plus a smaller 9-hole course, which attracts professionals from all over the world. Not to be overlooked, the resort is also home to six tennis courts, a full size football pitch and a fully equipped gym.

For those who enjoy less strenuous relaxation, prepare to be enchanted by Verdura’s 60m infinity swimming pool – one of the largest in Europe – which is accompanied by a chilled out terrace and bar area. The resort’s Verdura Spa is another must try; having won best European hotel spa in 2012 by Conde Nast Traveller, it features four thalassotherapy pools and an all-encompassing treatment menu.

Not to be outdone by the resort’s first class facilities, Verdura’s restaurant team is led by Michelin starred chef Fulvio Pierangelini. With four different restaurants and four bars on-site, there’s plenty of choice to be had, each celebrating a mix of traditional and Sicilian cuisine created using fresh organic ingredients.
