Description
The Schneider family have been running this establishment for over 50 years, but you can forget about the stifling formality of other upmarket hotels in the area, as their warm welcome will put you at ease in an instant.
There’s a sense of stylish informality that pervades every corner of this boutique hotel, from the choice selection of traditional fabrics and patterns in the bedrooms, to the antlers and moose’s head that adorn the walls of the ‘hunting room’. It all combines to create a unique sense of homeliness and elegance.
When you’re not out on the slopes, you can bask in the sunshine on the terrace with a strudel in hand. Depending on the season, it’s either the perfect vantage point from which to gaze across the snow covered Arlberg mountainside, or onto the wild meadows with their summer blankets of wild flowers.
If you prefer a relaxing day inside, the state-of-the-art sense spa is at your fingertips, complete with bio sauna and heated pool. Be sure to put yourself at the mercy of expertly trained hands for a luxurious massage treatment, or break a sweat in the gym under the watchful gaze of Mr Universe Fitness Bernd Österle.
When it comes to dining, you’re again spoilt for choice, with four separate areas offering a range of cuisines. The rustic, wood-panelled restaurant promises the delights of six course meals and a sumptuous cheese selection, or you can savour the specialities of Austria’s southern cousin at the Italian-themed La Fenice restaurant.
For something lighter, there’s the option of nibbling on an Austrian speciality snack. But for the full regional experience, you must wade into one of the Arlberg’s famous fondues in the parlour (be sure to ask for their special apricot-plum schnapps to wash it down!).
The hotel’s eye-boggling wine list offers their pick from over 1,000 vintages slumbering in the Arlberg’s cellar. The fact that you can even ask for a private dinner in the cellar is a perfect example of the uniquely accommodating nature of this glorious Alpine retreat.
