When to travel
Although there is sun all year round and the winters are mild, most guests stay here from May to September, with July and August being the hottest months with average daily temperatures in the early 30s oC.
Ikos Olivia is situated on the Gulf of Toroneos in Halkidiki 70km from Thessaloniki, situated on a stunning stretch of white sand on the Aegean Sea. Ikos Olivia is 70km or approx. 55 to 60 minutes’ drive from Thessaloniki International Airport.
Ikos Olivia aims to ensure that families have a fabulous holiday providing fun for all of the family so that parents can relax in the knowledge that their children are having a wonderful time whilst in the care of experienced multi-lingual staff. The children’s clubs are divided into specific age groups and are operated by the Worldwide Kids Company, a UK childcare company that operates to British standards and ratios.
A weekly programme of indoor and outdoor activities are tailored to suit the needs of each age group but include arts and crafts, face painting, cooking, sports e.g. beach volleyball, ‘Olympic games’ and kid’s aerobics, shell collecting, water sports, swimming, games, themed parties, excursions and picnics. Childcare staff will endeavour to use as much of the hotel as possible including the outdoor playground, tennis courts, swimming pools, beach and grass.
Facilities also include an indoor soft play area and a supervised play area under a specially designed beach tent for 4 to 12 year olds which is free of charge for 30 minutes. Pre-booking for childcare sessions is recommended as spaces are limited due to strict ratios.

Swimming Pools: The resort boasts four swimming pools. The large lagoon style freshwater pool has a swim up bar and separate children’s pool and infant paddling pool. There is also a heated outdoor pool near to the main beach with a separate children’s pool and a heated indoor and outdoor pool at the Spa for guests aged 16 years and above although there is a daily children’s splash hour. The stunning deluxe collection pool and children’s pool is available exclusively to guests staying in the Deluxe Suites.
Sports and Leisure activities: There is a wide range of sports facilities and activities available at Ikos Olivia. Water sports such as canoeing, pedaloes, windsurfing and catamaran sailing are available at the beach (a windsurfing and catamaran sailing licence is required). Motorised water sports such as water skiing, banana boating, jet skis and diving are also available for a local charge. The resort also has two floodlit tennis courts and a fitness studio offering a range of classes such as Zumba and yoga. The resort’s sports team organise daily activities such as beach volleyball, badminton, basketball, mini football.
Additionally Ikos Olivia guests can also enjoy a wide range of entertainments and group activities such as line dancing, Greek dance lessons, Boccia, cooking lessons, Greek language lessons and Greek mythology lessons!
Dancing, Cooking and Cultural Experiences: The extensive animation programme at Ikos Olivia will give you ample opportunity to learn a new skill or to try a new experience such as Boccia or Greek dancing, Greek cooking or even Greek language and Greek mythology lessons!
Water sports: Water sport enthusiasts can sample a range of activities at the water sports centre on the beach. Windsurfing is available for licensed guests as is catamaran sailing. However waterskiing, banana boats, jet skis and private boat hire can be enjoyed for a local charge without prior experience.
