Description

The quaint Mauritian coastal village of Belle Mare is the model picture postcard resort. Sitting quietly with its pure white sands, tall reaching palm trees and a secluded, sparkling lagoon, it’s the perfect location to share as a couple, family or in small groups. In keeping with the native scenery, the LUX* Belle Mare hotel’s exterior employs an attractive rural simplicity, created by its thatched roofing and wooden paneling.

Inside, however, the spacious rooms and suites are decorated with modern, chic furnishings and bold colours. Each room has been designed with the purpose of accentuating the serene, outdoor island beauty. Huge windows and an outdoor terrace allow guests to enjoy the tropical panoramic sights and experience the seafront air, all from the comfort of their own private suite. Every room is fitted with impressive extras, such as the lavish LUX* Sleep Tight bed and a grand marble bathroom, complete with walk-in shower and bathtub. The indulgent nature of the LUX* Belle Mare doesn’t finish there; the resort also offers an unprecedented amount of facilities and activities for guests of all ages to try out.

The resort has sports such as tennis, ping-pong and beach volleyball, while those keen to venture a little further afield may enjoy the hotel-organised bike rides or hikes. Being situated so close to the ocean, the LUX* Belle Mare staff also arrange a number of exciting water sports for guests to partake in, such as snorkelling, kayaking, windsurfing and plenty more. Boasting one of the island’s largest swimming pools, LUX* Belle Mare is perfectly suited for those whose ideal vacation involves relaxing on a sun lounger with cocktail in hand. While guests who desire something even more indulgent will want to acquaint themselves with the LUX*Me spa area, allowing visitors to tailor make their own spa rituals from a list of fitness, spa, nutrition and yoga practices.

As for the evenings, guests will find themselves with a choice of exceptional restaurant experiences to choose from, offering Mediterranean, Chinese, and contemporary Indian restaurants in addition to a multi station buffet restaurant at MIXE. The resort also has a number of sophisticated bars overlooking the ocean, lagoon and island scenery.

When to travel

Mauritius enjoys a typically tropical climate with year-round heat, although the southeast trade winds help it to not feel too muggy. The best months to visit Mauritius are May to early December. Water sports enthusiasts and divers will want to avoid January and February, the peak cyclone months. Cyclones rarely hit Mauritius but cyclones way out at sea can bring days of squally rain.

The summer months are from December to April, when it can nevertheless be extremely humid, and the winter, such as it is, runs from May to November, and is cooler and drier. Coastal temperatures range between 25°C and 33°C in summer and between 18°C and 24°C in winter, although on the plateau it will be some 5°C cooler.

When the winds are at their strongest in July and August it can be blustery on the east coast, though the breeze brings welcome relief in summer. Apart from the Christmas-New Year peak, Mauritius doesn’t really have high and low seasons. The situation is more dependent on outside factors (such as the French school holidays, which cause a big increase in demand and prices in August).

There is a wide selection of luxury Suites, all with a balcony or terrace with stunning views of the gardens, pool or sea.

Each suite is equipped with a king-size Sleep Tight bed, dressing room and luxurious bathroom with large walk-in shower, two wash basins, bath and separate toilets. The 48 inch wide LED TV’s; elaborate minibar offerings; high speed complimentary Wi-Fi; and IPTV with movies on demand are just a few of the special features provided in these rooms.

There are also 12 One & Two bedroom Villas at LUX* Belle Mare offering a secluded retreat with stunning sea views, each one with its own heated swimming pool and butler service.

JUNIOR SUITE

The signature LUX* suites. Designed by Kelly Hoppen to convey a beach house feel with a touch of elegance. Approx 55m².
These classic suites are located on three floors to provide the best views based on guests' preferences. Elevator access is available for a certain number of suites and these suites can be allocated upon prior request.

There are also Wellness Junior Suites (with terrace overlooking the tropical gardens and the zen pond), Beach View Junior Suites (with terrace overlooking the gardens, soft white sands and the turquoise lagoon), Pool View Junior Suites (conveniently located close to the hotel lobby and offering direct access to the swimming pool, Pool Junior suites offer wonderful views across the swimming pool, landscaped tropical gardens and the lagoon).

OCEAN SUITES

Designed by Kelly Hoppen, Ocean suites offer a unique combination of space, luxury, comfort and location at its very best. Each suite boasts a sprawling Sleep Tight bed, spacious bathroom with separate shower and toilet and an impressive terrace overlooking the Indian ocean. Picture yourself watching the moon rising on the silvery sea as you relax in your large bath!

THE GRAND LUX* SUITE

The ultimate in elegance and comfort... sink into a plush sofa, tuck into dinner in the private dining room or sunbathe in absolute privacy on your picturesque rooftop terrace, complete with solarium. A spacious terrace provides direct views of the tropical gardens and the zen pond; while a private butler is on hand at all times to see to your every need. A connecting Junior Suite is also available for family and friends.

ViLLAS

Your villa will greet you with a private heated pool and garden with refreshing outdoor shower, as well as nothing-too-much-trouble butler service. Intimate and indulgent, the Villas nestle in a sheltered bay overlooking the breathtaking beauty of the azure lagoon.

Guests can choose between a One Bedroom Ocean View Villa (160 sqm), a Beach Front Villas (180 sqm) with direct beach access or a Two Bedroom Prestige Villa (255 sqm).The aim is to instill a feeling of sanctuary in the villas, allowing guests to take full advantage of the feelings of privacy, seclusion and total freedom that the exclusivity of the villas provide.
