Description

Located on the sun drenched coast of Portugal’s Western Algarve, not only is the Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort home to an unspoiled stretch of coastal beaches, it’s also something of a cultural hub. Sitting in the middle of a protected natural park, the resort is just a short walk to the historic town of Sagres, home to vibrant markets and a picturesque harbour.

Inspired by the local beauty and architecture that surrounds the resort, Martinhal’s accommodation has been designed with a hint of Western Algarve charm. Each suite features a chic, mellow colour scheme, offset by the timber and wicker furnishings created by British furniture designer Michael Sodeau. Every en-suite room inside the Martinhal hotel is styled with an open plan design and large, French windows, letting the colours of the private gardens surrounding the resort burst into the room.

Each suite has a private wooden terrace and lawn area, perfectly suited for long afternoons under the sun. Guests may alternatively opt for one of Martinhal’s luxury houses or villas. Designed with intentional ocean, garden or forest views, each small house has been created ‘upside down’, allowing the living areas to receive the most of the surrounding scenery. Visitors staying at these lavish houses still receive full access to the resort’s facilities.

Purpose built for rejuvenation, the Martinhal resort features its own sports club, which consists of two tennis courts, two PADEL courts and a full sized sports field for guests to use. Five large swimming pools are also spread throughout the outdoor concourse, supported by a collection of fresh juice bars. Those seeking further indulgence will find a fondness for the resort’s Finisterra spa area. Designed with six treatment rooms, trained therapists provide a selective list of massages, rituals and treatments, made from 100 per cent organic ingredients.

Each of Martinhal’s premier gastronomic restaurants offers a sophisticated, fine dining experience. O Terraco, with its ocean views, introduces its diners to Portuguese delicacies alongside a contemporary menu. Alternatively, As Dunas and Os Gambozinos serve a fresh fish medley and Italian a la carte menu, respectively.

Enjoy a day of spa pampering together with a relaxing parent/child massage, a nourishing manicure or a soothing facial. Young mums and dads can also bring their baby to watch and learn adequate baby massage techniques which they can apply at home, strengthening the bonds between parent and baby. The baby massage is a set of movements designed to help eliminate the usual cramps and soothe the baby, contributing to a more restful sleep. Finisterra Spa designed a range of Tween and Teen treatments that introduces younger guests to the joys and benefits of spa therapies like massages, body treatments, facials, manicures, and pedicures. All teen treatments are specifically designed and tailored to meet the needs of young skins. Youngsters in particular are drawn to the Oasis Pool, an imaginatively designed beach entry free-form swimming pool that forms the centre piece of the Garden Houses area.

Another generously sized pool forms part of Club 98, Martinhal’s tennis and sports centre, and is popular with teenaged guests. Also at Club 98 you will find a smaller sized pool ideal for toddlers. A dedicated bar offers a range of food and drink options. Martinhal’s fifth pool area is located at the entrance of the Resort. The 18m pool and adjacent baby pool are open during the summer months for the exclusive use of the Vilas Mimosa guests.
