Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is a modern and vibrant resort with an excellent range of facilities and family orientated activities. The resort has its own private beach and world class sports and leisure facilities for everyone including three fresh water swimming pools (one of which is an adult only pool), an indoor and outdoor sport complex with 5-a side football pitches, tennis courts, a gym and a climbing wall, a watersports centre and a superb award winning spa for those seeking a more relaxing break.

The resort also has direct access to the marina where guests can take advantage of the water ferry service to Dubrovnik or boat trips to the Elaphite islands. Children are very well catered for at Sun Gardens with a seasonal children’s club for three to 11 year olds, a teen club during the summer months for 12-17 year olds and evening entertainment and babysitting services.

There is a wide choice of stylish rooms and private residences decorated in cool Mediterranean blues and greens and all featuring a terrace or balcony that overlooks the resort or stunning Adriatic sea. When to travel

Dubrovnik is a year round destination with warm dry summers and cool winters. July and August are usually the warmest months of the year with daytime high temperatures around the low 30°Cs. January and February are the coldest months of the year on average with daytime highs around 12°C. November and December are generally the wettest months of the year.

There are many festivals throughout the year in Dubrovnik:

November to March - The Dubrovnik Winter Festival includes special events, entertainment programmes, and traditional customs starting with Advent, followed by New Years Eve, the Festival of St Blaise, (Dubrovnik’s patron saint), Valentines Day and ending with Dubrovnik Carnival.

April - Dubrovnik Wine Festival brings together more than 100 regional wine makers.

June - Le Petit Festival du Theatre, July - Dubrovnik Opera Festival 10 July to 25 August The world renowned Dubrovnik Summer Festival with music, theatre and dance performances.

Location

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is located on the edge of the pretty village of Orasac just 15km from the centre of Dubrovnik and a 35 minute drive from the airport by private transfer.. The village dates from the 10th century and historically it was a popular retreat for artists and aristocrats seeking to escape from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik Old Town is easily reached by a short boat ride from the resort’s own private marina or by short road transfer.

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik is a superb choice for a family holiday with a wide range of family activities, child-friendly restaurants, two dedicated children’s pools and a children’s club.

Marco Polo Kids Club: 3 to 6 years and 7 to 11 years open daily 15th May to 30th September from 10:30 to 19:00

Operated in conjunction with the Worldwide Kids company, the Marco Polo Kids Club provides a fun and creative programme of activities in a safe environment. From sports to educational and environmental events, the kids club offers a full and varied programme of activities including splash volleyball, mask making, face painting, a Marco Polo themed scavenger hunt, Croatian dancing, nature walks, arts and craft activities, water sports and mini Olympics. There is even an opportunity for children to make a Croatian inspired present for their parents. The kids club is a complimentary childcare service that operates to strict ratios so pre-booking is strongly recommended.

The childcare team also provides a themed evening children’s entertainment programme with games, dancing and lots of fun. 

The Hideaway Teen Club: 12 to 17 years daily morning and afternoon sessions 1st July to 31st August

The Hideaway Club offers teens the chance to make the most of their stunning surroundings away from their parents. Activities include basketball, water skiing, archery, snorkeling, climbing wall, water-polo and sometimes boat trips to the local islands and jet ski safaris are organised. The club offers a tailored week of events that changes on a bi-weekly basis and operates on a complimentary basis.

Babysitting: Babysitting services are available for children aged from 6 months from from 15th May to 15th September from 08:00 to 23:00. A maximum of two children per babysitter are permitted and they must be from the same family. Babysitting services must be pre-booked at least 5 days in advance. 

Other activities for families include:

Sun Garden Sport Academies: Children aged 7-15 can join one of the sports academies during their stay. Operating from mid-May to mid-September for 5 training sessions with specialised trainers while Saturdays are reserved for a final tournament, children can choose from tennis, football, basketball, water-polo or sports camp (a combination of the above). Academies must be pre-booked.

Activities: Sun Gardens features a fully equipped gym and a superb range of indoor and outdoor activities for the whole family including five-a-side football, three clay tennis courts (local charge applies), squash, badminton, a rock climbing wall, sand volleyball, basketball, group fitness classes, table tennis and pool tables. There is a a seasonal watersports centre with jet skiing, water tubing and banana boats (local charges apply) and a private marina where guests can charter boats and arrange diving trips (local charges apply).

Swimming Pools: The resort boasts three outdoor swimming pools open from May to September. The Sunset pool, overlooking the sea, includes water features and a dedicated kids pool. The Marina Pool is for adults only and is the perfect spot for couples to unwind. The Lemonia pool is popular with families seeking to splash around in the sun. There is also a hydrotherapy pool and 18 metre indoor pool in the spa.
